CircuitSutra Technologies Pvt Ltd has announced that the Indian Science
and Technology Entrepreneurs Parks and Business Incubators Association
(ISBA) have awarded CircuitSutra the "ISBA Entrepreneurship Award 2008".
The awards ceremony was held January 31 at the Hotel Green Park in
Chennai during the ISBA 2009 International Conference on business
incubation. CircuitSutra got the award in the Graduate category of
'Information, Communication & Technology'. Umesh Sisodia, CEO
CircuitSutra, accompanied Prof. Raghunandan Rajamani, CEO, JSSATE, STEP
to receive the award.
According to Umesh, ISBA judged them on the basis of their performance
so far and their business plan for future growth. CircuitSutra started
its operation from JSSATE, Science and Technology Entrepreneur Park
(STEP) in November 2005 and it has recently graduated from the
incubation centre. The supportive environment provided by the
incubation centre helped the company to focus on its core business.
CircuitSutra is able to establish itself as the centre of excellence in
SystemC based SoC Modelling.
"So far SystemC was more in the research and evaluation phase and now
it has reached a stage when it is ready for widespread adoption in the
industry. We are very well positioned to enable the SoC companies for
the fast adoption of SystemC, we have developed good expertise in the
latest standards in this domain: TLM2.0 released by OSCI, TL Guidelines
released by STARC and Greensocs: Open source platform for tool
independent model development," says Umesh Sisodia, CircuitSutra CEO.
Speaking about the significant challenges it faced in the past, Umesh
mentioned a unique trial that is specific to their business. "SystemC
requires very unique skills which is a combination of two domains:
Object oriented software development using C++ and the understanding of
SoC architecture, design, verification. The chip design engineers are
comfortable with design languages like verilog and vhdl, they are not
comfortable with OOPS & C++. The software engineer understands C++
and OOPS but they do not understand the Electronics, SoC," says Umesh.
To address this, the company has come up with training modules for new
team members.
"CircuitSutra with Umesh at the helm of affairs has had an interesting
journey so far. The company faced several challenges of being a
start-up providing services in a niche area and required a lot of
perseverance to continue day after day. Umesh has steered the company
very admirably and it is a company that has received SEED funding from
us. We congratulate them on their success and hope for many more"
stated Raghunandan Rajamani.
